Vortex Consult Group: Computer Vision and Satellite Data for 5,000+ Acres of Farmland
Akasuya built a Laravel-based agricultural intelligence platform for Vortex Consult Group that uses computer vision and satellite imagery to monitor crop health across 5,000+ acres.
The problem
Vortex Consult Group advises agricultural clients across large, dispersed landholdings. Crop-health assessment relied on manual field visits and spreadsheets — slow, expensive and impossible to scale as the acreage under management grew.
The solution
A web platform that ingests satellite imagery and field photographs, runs computer-vision models to flag stress, disease and irrigation issues, and presents results on a map-based dashboard with automated weekly reports for each client.
Technology
Laravel and PHP for the application and reporting layer; Python-based image-processing services; Tailwind CSS for the dashboard UI; Docker containers on virtual machines for reproducible deployments; Git-based CI for controlled releases.
Implementation
Requirements workshops with agronomists to define what 'healthy' looks like per crop. Data pipeline for imagery ingestion. Model integration and validation against ground-truth field data. Dashboard and report builder. Staff training and hand-over with full documentation.
Results
The platform now monitors more than 5,000 acres, replacing routine field surveys with automated, weekly crop-health reporting. Consultants spend their time on recommendations rather than data collection, and clients receive consistent, evidence-based reports.
